Pardon the hokey title, but I feel I must write a quick little ode to my favorite of all jams ... Hero brand apricot jam from Switzerland. It always lifts my spirits :) I admit I'm fond of almost any jam, as long as it isn't too flashy: I was sorely disappointed by a ginger-pear jam from the Dane County Farmers' Market (which is a terrific market, by the way). I don't know when apricot beat out strawberry and marionberry, but it definitely did. I've been known to ask, "Would you like some toast with your jam?" It's fabulous on english muffins, with Finnish squeaky cheese (leipajuusto, which I've tried making with some success, but it's easier to buy), on pancakes, or with almost anything else!
